California Primary June 7, 2022

Under the Top Two Candidates Open Primary Act approved by Proposition 14 by voters in 2010, all candidates for voter-nominated offices are listed on one ballot and only the top two vote-getters in the primary election – regardless of party preference – move on to the general election.

Following tables include Democratic candidates who are endorsed by California Democratic Party, Alameda County Democratic Party or candidates in contested races (in red) with no endorsee.

This is the first time Democratic candidates are listed on this website. We believe that the best candidate should be elected by people. However it is impossible to check voting records of every incumbent or interview every candidate as a voter. It is why we decided to check issue organization’s endorsements. They follow voting records, campaign finances and performances and have endorsement procedures. We encourage you to check their endorsements, score cards, candidates forums and voter guides. We need to support candidates who will fight for our values.

Endorsements listed are CA Dem: CA Democratic Party, AC Dem: Alameda County Democratic Party, PPAF: Planned Parenthood Action Fund, PPAMM: Planned Parents Advocates Mar Monte, PP100: PPAMM Score 100%, NARAL: Pro-choice California, SC: Sierra Club Independent Action or Sierra Club California, 350BA: 350 Bay Area Action, EQCA: Equality CA, CC: Courage Campaign, CTA: California Teachers Association, OR: Our Revolution East Bay.

Democratic Party has a tendency to endorse incumbents marked with I. We did not list challengers when a candidate was endorsed by CA or county Democratic Party. Note it does not mean we are endorsing these candidates. We want you to see which endorsements a candidate did not receive or seek. For instance we can agree that being a pro-choice is a must in CA, but getting an endorsement from Planned Parenthood or NARAL Pro-Choice is not automatic.

Democratic Party Alameda County Candidates

Because the county offices are nonpartisan, party affiliation is not listed in the official Sample Ballot. Candidates who get over 50% votes win the county election. In case no candidate win over 50% votes top two candidates will go to runoff at the General Election in November.
