Texting is an effective tool to invite people/voters to take an action like attending an event and GOTV since the information is right under the voters’ fingertips. Text App Hustle was first utilized in 2016 by the Bernie Sanders Campaign, and since then many platforms/Apps such as ThruText, Spoke, OutVote, Text Out, and Text per Cent have been developed. Through these apps you will be able to send 100s of messages in a short time without using your texting service of your own. With volunteers texting one by one, texting is a peer to peer (P2P) two way contact. Even though it is not as effective as calling, texting can be used for supporter identification and persuasion. For campaigns obtaining reliable lists and paying for the apps could be cost inhibitive. With so many campaigns in texting, voter fatigue is a concern for the 2020 election. The summary and steps to be involved in each texting campaign are listed below.
