CA Poor People’s Campaign MLK Reading – Monday, April 4, Strawberry Creek Park at 5:45pm

Please join us for the CA Poor People’s Campaign this Monday, April 4 – a public reading of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence.”

It’s the 54th anniversary of MLK Jr’s assassination, so the CA PPC is scheduling 54 of these public readings across the state. The readings are taking place to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and are particularly relevant as we watch a war unfold with Russia’s attack on Ukraine, having huge ramifications for the entire world.

One reading is taking part at Strawberry Creek Park in Berkeley from 5:45-7 pm. You can register for the event here: Sign-up form

The transcript of the speech is divided into 16 sections so there are 16 readers. If you’re interested in being one of the readers, please email me at wardkanowsky@gmail.com.

This event is part of a broader mobilization leading up to a march and rally in Washington D.C. on June 18 by the national Poor People’s Campaign.
